Travel connections

Find out how to continue your journey by tube, bus or tram towards your final destination when you travel from Great Northern train stations.

Going underground

We know your journey doesn’t always end with us.

You may need to connect to other services – whether you’re commuting to the City or catching a show in the West End.

Our trains stop at five connecting stations in London, and it’s easy to transfer onto the tube to continue towards your destination.

  • Finsbury Park: Piccadilly and Victoria lines
  • Highbury and Islington: Victoria line
  • King’s Cross: Victoria, Piccadilly, Northern, Circle, Metropolitan and Hammersmith & City lines
  • Moorgate: Northern, Circle, Metropolitan and Hammersmith & City lines
  • Old Street: Northern line

Find out more about travelling on the tube on the Transport for London website.

Buses in London

There are regular buses from all of our London stations to take you wherever you like in the capital.

Buses can be cheaper than the tube and may be free if you have an older person’s or concessionary bus pass.

You can use Travelcards, Oyster and contactless cards on buses in London but you can no longer pay with cash.

Buses to St Albans and Thameslink trains

Fancy a day trip to St Albans, going to Whipsnade Zoo or planning to jet off on your hols from Luton Airport?

You can get on a Line2Line bus from outside the station at Hatfield which will whizz you away to St Albans station in 22 minutes.

From there you can get a Thameslink train to Luton, Bedford and other stations on the Thameslink network in Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire.

Buy a ticket between any Great Northern and Thameslink station on the Line2Line station map and the bus will be included in the price.

Rail-Bus links

An additional Rail-Bus link is available to St Ives, Cambridgeshire, via Cambridge or Huntingdon but owing to frequently changing bus timetables these are not available through online journey planners or ticket machines and must be bought from rail station ticket offices.

There is also a Rail-Bus ticket available to Hunstanton via King's Lynn, which is available through online journey planners.

Explore the town or city by bus

Why not take the weight off your feet and explore the city by bus? PlusBus is a bus pass which you can buy with your train ticket for unlimited bus and tram travel.
